Preparation

A while back, we came across a photo of a pair of beaten up American Flag Converses. Despite combing through all online shops and looking for them in multiple cities, we couldn’t seem to get our hands on any. Instead, we’ve found a fantastic way to do it ourselves!

All you need is: White Converse Chuck Taylors, 2 paint brushes, a pencil, an eraser and some acrylic fabric paint (red and blue).

PencilStripes

Step 1: Start out by drawing 2 inch thick lines across either side of each shoe using the ruler as a guide. Each side should have 4 lines.

Step 2: Draw your stars in. If you’re having troubles drawing perfect stars freehand, trying cutting out a couple of stencils to make things easier!

Step 3: Paint! Put the red paint into a little cap, add a tiny bit of water, and then paint in the red portion of the stripes. The colour intensity is up to you – if you want a more vintage or faded watercolour look, water-down the paint quite a bit.

Step 4: After the red paint is dry, do the same with the blue paint for the back strip and tongue.

Step 5: Let the shoes dry for about 24-48 hours and then voila! They’re done! Wear them and enjoy. 🇺🇸
