As pressure amounts for any new designer to make their mark, Anrealage designer, Kunihiko Morinaga, tried an original and highly unusual technique by cooking his designs on his models – live during the show. The models, dressed in plain black and white trapeze-silhouettes, and stencil-like cotton and lace outer-garments, walked into a “grill” area, where they stopped to be heated up by intense beam lighting.

In an age where new techniques like 3-D printers thrive to become the cure for common diseases and terminal illnesses, Morinaga’s beam lighting technique left us feeling highly curious about its effects on the models. As the models left the stage, they seemed in high spirits if only slightly overheated – something we hope only a cold shower will fix.
